Protecting Your Leather
If you have leather gloves and/or boots waterproofing could be considered a necessity. But with all the products out there buying the right compound can be confusing. I spoke to my local cobbler to get some info on this very subject. One of the most commonly bought products is Dubbin. However this is not necessarily the best. Dubbin does water proof leather but does not allow moister to dissipate which leads to stitching rot.
The best product I've found is a wax based nugget. I recommend Angelus Brand Shoe Wax Polish. It'll cost around AU$8.50 for a 75g container and will last at least 2 years (depending on how much leather you have and how much you use). Liberal application 4 times a year will adequately protect any leather products without rotting the stitching. If your in the Melbourne Metro area go to 'Chris The Cobbler', 5 Bellevue Ave Rosanna off Lower Plenty Road PH:9458 3619. Great service and advice.
